News from honcho (Nov-18)

Welcome to the latest update from honcho, the world’s first reverse auction marketplace for financial services.

In this update we’ve got news of the honcho app development progress, our VIP early access programme and some recent coverage of honcho in the media.

honcho app development

The big news for this update is that we have now completed the development of our iOS and Android apps and our web app. This is a massive step on our journey to launch and marks the end of a 6 month period of work by our team and partners to get the apps ready to go. The next step on the app development journey is known as ‘user acceptance testing’, or UAT. This is where every possible combination of the honcho service is tested to identify any issues that need fixing before we move into alpha testing, beta testing and then launch.

honcho VIP early release programme

There are several phases of testing and pre-release that will happen before we fully launch honcho early in 2019, and we have this week announced the honcho VIP early access programme in order to prioritise who gets the first access to honcho.

If you would like to be among the first to try honcho to visit us at to register. Places on the early access programme will be released in batches as we progress towards launch.

Media coverage

honcho has featured in the media a number of times recently. Among the stories our chief commercial honcho Frank talked to Computer Weekly about our journey thus far, Insurance Age commented on our BIBA membership, and Prolific North covered our involvement with the Barclays Northern Powerhouse Fund and preparation for launch. There was also an interview with chief executive honcho Gavin in Bdaily.

You can read all of these stories, and several others from the past few weeks, via our press page:

honcho supporting our local community

As a proud north eastern company we are keen to help support the next generation of entrepreneurs in the region to grow their business skills. The honcho team are delighted to have been invited to work with students at our local school, Framwellgate School Durham, as part of the Future Business Magnates programme run by Business Durham. This initiative asks businesses to mentor students aged 12-13 as they embark on setting up a small commercial venture in a competitive environment, and we are looking forward to supporting them through the project over the coming months.

Can you help us?

Your support in spreading the word of honcho far and wide across your networks of family, friends, colleagues and associates would be a big help to us as we prepare to launch. Please invite people to visit to find out more and ask them to click I’m Interested to be kept informed of our launch. Please also ask people to like our Facebook page at (and if you haven’t yet done so, please do!)

Thanks for your help.

That’s all for this update. There’ll be more updates from honcho soon, and as ever, please feel to get in touch with us.

Best wishes from all the team at honcho.
